Events
At Project Ready for School, we believe that every child deserves the tools necessary to learn, grow, and thrive. Our events are a testament to this commitment, providing essential school supplies, festive costumes, and holiday gifts to children in need. We warmly invite you to join us in making a real difference in the lives of these children and their families.
Back to School Bash
Our annual Back to School Bash is our longest running event, first taking place in August 2015. Every school year, we work with school counselors to identify and invite students to the event which takes place in August. These are students who qualify for the free and reduced lunch programs at their schools (Frances Tucker Elementary, Coconut Grove Elementary, and GW Carver Elementary). Students who attend the event receive school uniforms, socks, underwear, a backpack with school supplies, and a brand new book of their choice from our “Free Library”. In addition, there are treats, a visit from Miami Heat’s Burnie and UM’s Sebastian, boys can get haircuts, and girls receive hair accessories. We also have food, snow cones, and other treats for the kids. What started out as an event for 100 students to meet us at a uniform store, has grown into a Saturday full of fun for the students. We have now helped over 2,000 students begin their school year with confidence.
Halloween Costume Distribution
Launched in 2021, our Halloween Costume Distribution event brings smiles and spooky joy to students at St. Alban’s Day Nursery. Children have the chance to choose their dream costume through a wish form, and we strive to make these wishes come true. Each costume is delivered in trick-or-treat bags, accompanied by Halloween-themed treats to add to the festive cheer.
Holiday Toy Distribution
The Holiday Toy Distribution event, initiated in 2018, has been a beacon of joy and excitement for many children. We work to make holiday wishes come true by distributing toys to over 1,500 students. Join us in spreading the magic of the holiday season, and experience the joy of giving firsthand.
